21 Day Fast - Day Two

Isaiah 58:6 says, "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? As we refuse our body its most basic need, what do we gain in return? In the next weeks, I will share some of the effects of Fasting. As this scripture says, Fasting leads to Freedom. Chains of addictions can be broke. Things in our lives that bind can be loosed. Discover the freedom that God desires for you as we travel this road together. Fasting tip for today: Spend much time worshiping the Lord. Traveling together, Pastor Brent

21 Day Fast - Day One

Joel 1:14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord.

Let me thank you for choosing to take part of this 21 day fast here at Lighthouse. I am so excited that about 1/3 of our congregation is taking part in this time of seeking God's face. I believe that God wants for the year 2010 to be a Year of Advancement for us as a church and you as an individual.

These 21 days will set the course for your year and the church as we seek His direction. May He be your True North. Check back daily for more scripture encouragement and fasting tips.

Pastor Brent

Momentum

Mattthew 16:18 ...that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

What a great summer it has been for us here at Lighthouse. It has been a summer filled with momentum. An anniversary of 25 years for Melonie and I in serving the church here in Fond du Lac. Retiring our debt in a 3.5 million dollar campus. So many souls coming into the kingdom and some great new people becoming part of this great community of faith at LCC.

The Lord most certainly is building His church, no doubt about that. I believe the church is gaining momentum and will be a strength in these difficult time. Momentum is a force of strength. Often it is the difference between winning and losing.

Momentum comes from winning battles. I think of David and how he killed a lion and a bear - no man was going to stop the Lord from working thru him, even if he was over nine feet tall. Overcoming obstacles in our live helps us to become stronger and build momentum.

Momentum happens as we are faithful in the little things. How have your devotions been lately? Have you been faithful to spend time in the Lords presence daily? How about your church attendance? It's been so easy to make excuses during such a busy summer, but at what cost? How much momentum has been lost? What lessons have we taught our kids who are watching us?

Matthew 25:33 (NIV) "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!"

Yes, the Lord is building His church and the gates of hell will not prvail against it, BUT!! The gates of hell will come against it. More on that in the post to come.

Stacking Stones

Thanks Lighthouse for all the great memories. Hard to believe we have been serving in Fond du Lac for 25 years. In my text yesterday, Joshua told one man from each tribe to take a stone from the middle of the Jordan and stack them as a sign for them to remember the faithfulness of the Lord.

We have many stone piles over the years. God has been so good to us and to Lighthouse. It has been a pleasure serving this body. On behalf of our family, thank you for the great celebration day yesterday. We love you and count it a privilege to serve here.

We know in our hearts that God has great things in store for us in the days ahead. Lets continue to believe for miracles, changed lives and the kingdom to expand. We love being your pastors.

Refreshing Rain

Just spent a great week with Melonie in beautiful Colorado Springs. We had the privilege of attending the Ascent and Enter conference at New Life Church. The two conferences went from Mon. to Wed night. Then the 30 youth and sponsors from LCC showed up for Desperation, a youth conf. with about 2500 in attendance.

Did we ever meet with God during that week. Such sweet times in worship, just waiting on Him and allowing Him to soak us. Let it rain Lord, we are thirsty! I am reminded of the words in Hosea 6:1-3.

"Come, let us return to the Lord; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up. After two days he will revive us; on the third day, he will raise us up, that we may be before him. Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is as sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth."

God, send a downpour of your Spirit, and encounter with you that will soak us with your joy.
