
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
"They," being the three thousand that were saved on the day of Pentecost when Peter preach, had not arrived on that day. They had not reach a destination. They had only just begun their journey.
If everything were automatic upon conversion, conversion would be a destination. But such is not the case. Putting ones faith in Christ is a beginning and not an end.
They continued "steadfastly" which refers to the fact that there was opposition. Steadfastness is only need when there is an attack and these new believers knew all to well what that was about. It could and most likely will become much harder to stand for truth in the coming days. Let me leave you with this question:
Is there enough evidence to convict you of being a follower of Christ? If not, how can we change that? The hour is short and the gate is shutting.
