Thinking For Change

Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV)
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Everyone I know has the desire to change something about them. You most likely fall into that category. It may be a financial situation or a bad habit you want to quit. Maybe your marriage needs to be better or you don't want to be single anymore. Maybe it's about losing weight and getting in shape.

The truth is that we all need to be constantly changing, constantly improving ourselves. To be more than a little blunt: If you think you're fine the way you are, you've set your standards too low. The minute we stop growing, we start dying. So life needs to be a constant process of change.

Here's the problem: Change isn't easy. Let me qualify that a little more: Lasting change doesn't come easily. It's easy to implement a change; you can do that on a whim – like the guy who said, "It's easy to quit smoking. I've quit a thousand times." The trick is to make it work long-term. The trick is to change your life and keep the change.

Over the next few weeks at LCC, we are going to look at making lasting change in your life. I believe this series will be life transforming. Take a step for lasting change – Join us for worship at 9:30 a.m. Lighthouse Christian Church - 401 S. National Ave., FDL, WI – www.lcconline.com.
